Description
AMS5880E rescinds the previous cancellation and supersession, and at the same tim estabilizes the document becasue it still has use in the bearing industry. For historical reference, revision D of AMS5880 cancelled the document and superseded it with AMD 5618AMS5880E has been declared “STABILIZED” and will no longer be subjected to periodic reviews for currency. Users are responsible for verifying references and continued suitability of technical requirements. New technology may exist. The last technical update of this document occured in May, 2006. Users of this document should refer any certification issues (e.g. exceptions listed on the certification report) to the congnizant engineering organization for their disposition. CAUTION: In many cases the purchaser is not the congnizant engineering organizaiton (i.e. purchaser may be a sub tier supplier.)>p>AMS Committee F recommends that the following technically equivalent (e.g. properties, fit, form, funciton) specification be used for future prodcurement. This listing does not constitute authority to substitute these specifications for the “STABILIZED” specification. AMS5618 and AMS5630.TThis specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and forging stock. These products have been used typically for anti-friction bearing parts requiring resistance to both corrosion and wear with hardness usually not lower than 58 HRC after hardening and tempering, but usage is not limited to such applications.
