Description

This final report consists of an assemblage of several independent but related parts. Part 1 is a “Utilization” section that gives a brief explanation of how the results of this project can be used for computer simulation models. This utilization section also describes the format and content of the data files mat come with the report Part 2 describes the design, instrumentation, calibration and debugging of two environmental chambers and associated data acquisition and control systems. This part is the MS. thesis for one of the graduate students participating in the project, and represents the setup and operation of this research project Part 3 presents and discusses the experimental results for the two phases of research as well as the dry-out test. Part 4 presents and discusses the water vapor permeance testing conducted on the construction materials. Part 5 discusses the MOIST computer simulations and compares them to the test results from both phase 1 and 2. The summary, conclusion, and suggested guidelines and practices developed from tins research are presented in Part 6. Data for the thermal conductivity is reported in Appendix A
