Description
This test method determines the relative effectivenessof wood preservatives in small woodspecimens exposed to a natural marine environment.It is not within the scope of this procedure to determinethe retention levels necessary for protection ofcommercial size piles and timbers. This Standard isbased on ASTM D2481.
This test method is useful for determining the rela-tiveefficacy of various treatments against naturally occur-ringwood-destroying agents. It is an initial means for esti-matingthe tolerance limits of the biologically destructiveagents or the threshold values of the chemical preservative,or both.
This test method is a qualitative method designed toprovide a reproducible means of establishing relative efficacybetween experimental chemical treatments and a referencechemical treatment (i.e. creosote, CCA or ACZA).
