Scope
1.1 This Standard specifies a method for testing theserviceability of decking boards exposed outdoors, out ofcontact with the ground, in a decking module closelyresembling poorly ventilated decking in residential use.Since the experimental design is virtually identical, it mayconveniently be run at the same time as AWPA E25-08Standard Field Test for Evaluation of Wood Preservatives tobe Used Above-Ground (UC3B) Decking Method. This testmethod is intended to be a commodity test.
1.2 The test method is suitable for evaluating the effects of,surface profiling, different wood preservatives, and additivessuch as dimensional stabilization and UV protectanttreatments on commercially treated species. In addition, thetest method may also be used to compare different grainorientations and newly introduced wood species.
