Personal cooling garments have become needed to reduce heat stress of people wearing pro-tective clothing. This article discusses the heat balance equation for human thermoregulation, garment designs that use evaporative-convective cooling (increase air velocity, decrease air temperature, artificial sweat), and garments that use conduction cooling (water, dry ice, water ice).
