Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1999

Description

This paper analyzes the feedback control method conventionally used for control of perimeter zone air conditioning in large offices. It describes the principle of “skin load control” to improve perimeter zone air conditioning and examines the characteristics of a key hardware component, the radiant temperature sensor. It also describes the convective heat trans-fer coefficient, an important parameter in skin load control. Based on an investigation using theoretical analysis, this paper also demonstrates the practicality of simple skin load control. Moreover, based on the findings of measurement results derived from a comparison experiment, the paper shows the effectiveness of skin load control in perimeter zone air-conditioning control from the viewpoints of both control-lability and energy conservation.
