3820 (RP-776) — Identification and Control of Viral Aerosols in Indoor Environments

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1994

Category:

Description

Reflects the results of a literature search that addressed the problem of airborne spread of viruses in indoor environments and various methods for reducing or eliminating this problem. More than a hundred books, articles, and reports were assembled, reviewed, and evaluated with respect to their relevance to four topics – epidemiological evidence of airborne spread of viruses in indoor environments, sampling methods relevant to evaluating viral aerosol concentrations in indoor air, assay and characterisation methods for determining the presence of specific viruses in indoor air samples, and control techniques and their efficacy for eliminating or reducing airborne viral particle spread. Also a telephone survey of researchers and consultants presently working in relevant areas was conducted.

KEYWORDS: controls, viruses, aerosols, indoor air, research, surveys, efficacy, sampling, content, case studies, detecting, temperature, relative humidity, ultraviolet radiation, disinfecting, filters, ventilation
