Description
Assesses the capability of the HPSIM program developed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, to simulate the thermal performance of room air conditioners. Demonstrates that the performance of the program, using the actual system charge, is strongly dependent on the adopted void fraction model and whether the refrigerant dissolved in the oil is accounted for. Presents and discusses comparisons between experimental and computational results for both cooling and heating modes.
KEYWORDS: Models, computers, USA, rooms, unit air conditioners, cooling, heating, comparing, refrigerants, lubricants.
