3664 — Numerical Prediction of Countergradient Thermal Transport in a Turbulent Plume

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1993

Category:

Description

Examines two turbulence models that could be used for numerical simulations of buoyant air flows in rooms. Specifically, it reports a prediction for the mean temperature field and turbulent heat flux in a plane vertical plume, using both a k-epsilon eddy viscosity model and an algebraic stress model closure. This study is further evidence of the need to look to second-moment closures for realistic predictions of turbulent air flows when the effect of buoyancy on the turbulent transport is important.
