3612 — Life-Cycle Cost Analysis Applied to Selection of Compression Equipment for Industrial Refrigeration Systems

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1992

Category:

Description

States that two-stage compression refrigeration is commonly used in vapour-compression refrigeration systems operating at evaporator temperatures below -20 degC (-4 degF). Applies a life-cycle cost analysis to the compression equipment of several representative vapour-compression systems investigating the correctness of this evaporating temperature. Only the compression equipment is considered in the analysis and the remainder of the refrigeration system assumed identical for a given example. States the results suggest that compressor electrical power consumption is the most important life-cycle cost. This cost is influenced by the fraction of compressor capacity utilised in the refrigeration system and is found to change the one-stage or two-stage compression design decision.
