3546 — Parametric Analysis of a Building Space Conditioned by a VAV System

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1992

Description

A numerical model was used to simulate a space controlled by a variable-air-volume system. The effects of building system components, including envelope heat transmission, thermal mass of the building enclosure, non-temperature-related heat gains, cooling system capacity, and time delay of thermal effect, were examined. In addition, the impact of the controls setup, such as the temperature proportional band, minimum throttling rate, PI control factor, and temperature setpoint, were studied. The model predictions are in line with practical expectations. This simplified model provides a theoretical foundation for more elaborate simulations.
