Description

Reports the experimental data concerning the PVT properties of an important, stratospherically safe refrigerant, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a: CH2FCF3) in an extensive range of temperatures, pressures, and densities obtained by means of the constant-volume method. One hundred fifty-nine PVT property data were measured along 24 isochores in a range of temperatures from 310 424 K, of pressure from 0.7 to 12 MPa and of densities from 36 to 1144 kg/m3. Fifty-one vapour pressures were measured at temperatures from 300 K to the critical temperature and a vapour pressure equation representing the experimental data within plus or minus 2% was developed. The critical pressure was determined as 4.0640 plus or minus 0.0015 MPa in the course of developing the vapour pressure equation with the aid of the critical temperature and density measured by the authors in 1988.
