3077 (RP-389) — Performance Characteristics of a System Designed for Stratified Cooling Operating During the Heating Season

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1987

Category:

Description

Experiments were conducted in a full-sized facility to determine the heating-season behavior of a system designed to produce stratified air conditioning during cooling-season operation. The experiments were designed to produce information on space air temperature profiles and on heating load magnitude as a function of system geometry and indoor and outdoor temperture conditions.

It was found that significant stratification did not occur at any of the conditions tested. The measured heating load was equivalent to that which would be determined for a conventional system at a uniform indoor temperature.
