Description

In liquid absorption dehumidification systems, a strong absorbent solution removes moisture from the air, as a consequence of which the solution becomes diluted. In order to reuse the solution, it has to be regenerated to an acceptable level of concentration. Effectiveness of the dehumidification process depends on the amount of water evaporated from the weak solution. Since it requires only 50 – 65°C for regeneration, solar energy can be effectively used. In this paper two types of solar regenerators, namely, an open type and forced-flow type, have been described and their performance compared for hot, dry and hot, humid climates. It is found that a forced-flow regenerator yields better performance than an open type for both climates.
