Description

Outside Oslo, Norway, a six-building complex, the LMarket, with a total office space of approximately 52,000 m2 is under construction. Two of the buildings, A and B, are completed, and C will be finished at the end of 1998. Beginning in August 1994, the builder wanted to prove that it was possible to build workplaces with next to no complaints, using new but well-proved technology, materials with a minimum of offgassing, sufficient supply of clean outside air, and using the clean building philosophy (CBP). The CBP idea is that it is of great importance to reduce the amount of dust and debris as much as possible during the construction period. For the last twenty years, energy conservation has been a major issue, and at the L-market, we have tried to give energy reduction primary consideration. However, if energy conservation collides with indoor environment quality, energy conservation must give way. This paper will describe the results from Building A.
