Description

Over the last several years, a manufacturing facility in Cockeysville, Maryland, has spent several million dollars in operating costs in their complex, consisting of multiple industrial buildings scattered over several acres. Due to its inherent function, the buildings produce enormous amounts of waste heat, which are not being utilized. In order to lower the operating costs as well as to recover this wasted heat, an integrated low temperature distribution study was initiated with usage for waste heat both for cooling and heating. This paper discusses the heat pump loop and recovery of waste heat and implementing of a high temperature-ice storage system.
