3687 (RP-596) — Calculation of Humidity Effects on Energy Requirements of Refrigerated Display Cases

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1993

Category:

Description

Same as paper number CH-93-16-4.

Methods have been developed that allow the designer or engineer to estimate the savings realised in display case operation by lowering store relative humidity. When the relative humidity was lowered from 55% to 35%, the majority of the display cases saved 20% to 30% in compressor energy, 40% to 60% in defrost energy, and 19% to 73% in anti-sweat heater operation. At the same time, the operating costs for the store air conditioning system increased by 4% to 8%.

KEYWORDS: calculating, relative humidity, humidity, energy consumption, shops, supermarkets, display equipment, refrigeration, air conditioning, energy conservation, USA.
