NY-87-13-1 — Energy Conservation for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities Using Recirculated Air

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1987

Category:

Description

The use of recirculated air in pharmaceutical facilities can substantially reduce operating cost and provide a more controlled environment than that provided by 100% outside air systems. This paper reports on design considerations, construction details and testing methods involved with facility qualification. Overall system configuration is reviewed with focus on filtration equipment, ductwork integrity, control system design and applicability to various pharmaceutical facilities and processes. Systems have been installed and are operating for several years. The benefits derived from a recirculated system are explored along with specifics regarding utility usage and system operating cost.
