DA-76-12-3 — Design Application Using Solar Energy to Control the Environment in a Major Office Building

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1976

Description

Technically advanced people of the world today have faced an energy problem that is irksome in that the short term rationing of gas and oil may be imminent. In long term, as consumption users, we may not be able to get the energy our economy needs without unacceptable thermal and chemical pollution. We may have to turn to the sun to keep our economy running.

This paper discusses the use of solar energy in a large office building. The decision to construct and operate a solar collector system in conjunction with the new 50,000 sq ft SEB to be constructed at the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia was based upon several conclusions regarding the advisability of using solar energy.
