Description

This paper describes the use of an energy prediction methodology for a generic commercial building in Singapore. A reference building is modeled and its energy performance simulated by the use of the DUE-2 computer program. By the use of curve fitting, single-parameter energy prediction equations are obtained. This is followed by a sensitivity analysis of the major parameters affecting the total energy use and cooling energy of the building. In order to ascertain the influence of these parameters in the annual energy use, results of simultaneous two-parameter changes are compared with those obtained from additions of single-parameter changes. Finally, a data base of computer simulation results is created to establish energy prediction equations based on the Taylor series expansion. Test results using this prediction methodology indicate reasonably accurate estimates of the annual total energy use and cooling energy of the generic commercial building.
