Industrial icemakers are available in several types. Most are manufactured in sizes from 10 to 50 tons (35 to 176 kW) per day whereas the commercial units vary from 150 lbs to around 6,000 lbs (68 to 2721 kg) per day.” A flake ice machine, introduced in the late 1930s, was probably the first commercial automatic icemaker.
